Beargrass Media assisted the Iroquois PAL Project in the winter of 2015-2016. The PAL program met throughout the winter of 2015 – 2016.
The PAL Coalition is a collaborative coalition working to reduce substance abuse by young people living in the 7th Street corridor – Park Hill, Algonquin and Old Louisville – of Central Louisville. Housed in and partnered with Family & Children’s Place, the organization engages young people in prevention efforts and works to bridge the gaps between community, school and home life.
Beargrass Media was called to assist the Iroquois PAL coalition make 3 PSA videos against teen drinking. The kids wrote the scripts with the assistance of Keith McGill and Tomy Baker Molloy. Patrick Fitzgerald assisted by recording and editing the PSAs.

The Iroquois PAL project won second place in the 2016 REEL ACTION video contest for art design for its video: Don’t Follow the Crowd. These pictures show the award and the group that received the award.

This is the icebreaker video the group made in December, 2015.
The REEL ACTION Film Fest is an event sponsored by the Louisville Metro Police. The REEL ACTION Prevention of Underage Drinking project and contest where teens use their talents to create :28 second videos to take REEL ACTION to reduce underage drinking, reel by reel. In 2016, entries were judged and received on-line votes to determine winners that are announced at a Red Carpet Première and Awards Ceremony at the Baxter Avenue Theatres in the Highlands area of Louisville, Ky. Selected video winners air on Movie Cinema screens, as commercials on major television channels (MTV, ESPN, BET, E! VH1, etc.) and been converted to radio commercials – all to promote NOT DRINKING ALCOHOL UNDERAGE! In 2015, winning videos aired MILLIONS of times to HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of households. After participating in REEL ACTION, teens reported feeling more knowledgeable about the risks and issues surrounding underage drinking and talking more with their friends, at school and with parents about underage drinking.
