The Beargrass Media and Highlands Community Ministries January 2019 Winter Video Camp
Held at Bardstown Road Presbyterian Church January 3-4, 2019
The Camp featured 11 students rising into grades 6 – 9. the camp was led by Patrick Fitzgerald and Jon-Mark Sandquist. The syllabus guides students through learning how to record, edit, and publish videos.
The Camp began by breaking into 2 groups and making “Icebreaker Videos”. The videos serve to be an icebreaker in getting students to learn to work together on projects nd get to know each other, but they also each contain at least one of each of the main camera angles that students will use the rest of their filmmaking career like wide shots, mid shots, close-ups, cut ins, etc. After recording the raw material, the students are guided through a crash course in video editing that ends up with a finished video in about 2 hours.

Magic Bag
Jon-Mark led the first group of 8 students to make a video called Magic Bag. It follows a couple of characters who discover a magic bag that encourages them to give meaningful gifts to others and they will receive a gift themselves. It goes mostly according to plan, but of course, the best laid scemes o’ mice and men…

Patrick led the second group of 3 students to make a video about a random and intense card game that reinforces a basic life lesson we all know.

A group of students who attended the summer camp went off by themselves and executed this script called Happy New Year. (It may get a slight revision. )

This group made a short video about an existential construct coupled with a sight gag. It features a trip through the world of green screen.

This group made a video about some hungry boys in a struggle to get the last snack in the room, and they won’t let a little linguistic misunderstanding stop them.
